Smoked Citrus in Velvet Amber

Tobacco Mandarin is one of Byredo’s darkest extraits — a glowing mandarin wrapped in smoke, resin, and leathery woods. The scent opens with a blast of Iso E Super, lifting a vivid green mandarin and a glossy floral brightness from Phenethyl Alcohol and Magnolan.

Quickly, the perfume deepens: Gurjun balsam, guaiacwood, cedarwood, labdanum, patchouli, nagarmotha — a full molten-amber orchestra. Tobacco absolute (nicotine-free) adds a hushed, leathery warmth, while oud and spices bring a burnt-orange glow.

A plush sweetness rises underneath: Vanillin, Ethyl Maltol, Octahydro Coumarin, Heliotropin, giving the extrait its addictive honeyed depth without losing tension. Modern musks (Helvetolide, Muscenone) and woody molecules (Polysantol, Osyrol, Bacdanol) wrap everything in a dark velvet haze.
