The Serpent’s Breath

Mortal Skin is not a perfume — it is a vision. A slow, hypnotic movement. The shiver of a serpent sliding across warm skin. Stéphane Humbert Lucas composes a fragrance that feels both sacred and dangerous, an incense-laden spell woven in shadow.

The opening is immediately uncanny: inky resins, dark fruits, smoldering woods. Osyrol and ethereal musks create the sensation of cold scales gliding over warm flesh. Sweet orange and bergamot bring a fleeting glow, like a flash of light on obsidian.

As the scent deepens, the heart turns dense and smoky — guaiac, styrax, myrrh, elemi, and cistus merge into a resinous veil, while polished woods (polysantol, vetiveryl acetate, cedar) add an almost tactile smoothness. Vanilla and benzoin soften the edges, but never fully tame the darkness.

Subtle strokes of saffron, cardamom, cypriol, and birch tar give the fragrance its reptilian aura — spicy, leathery, slightly medicinal, like the breath of a mythical creature.

The Result
A mesmerizing, ink-black oriental: smoky, woody, spicy, and strangely intimate. Mortal Skin coils around the wearer like a living creature — unsettling, seductive, and utterly unforgettable.
