🟫 Cabochard Parfum – Grès (1959)
Perfumer: Bernard Chant
Concentration: Eau de Parfum
Olfactive Family: Floral Chypre
From the Archives Gilbert Bendoni Private Collection

Before Aromatics Elixir, there was Cabochard.
And before Bernard Chant was legend, he was building empires — one leathery chypre at a time.

Launched in 1959, Cabochard is not a perfume. It is a statement in leather, jasmine, and resolve. The structure is brutalist, the mood: defiant. Think grey flannel and smoke, poured over a heart of florals too complex to name and too bold to tame.

Its foundation is the Jasmin Absolute Base, a floral concentrate pulsing with indolic heat and creamy contradiction. Paired with Butylquinoline Secondary, Vetyveryle Acetate, and Fruit Sec Firmenich, it achieves a balance of dry minerals and dew-laced blossoms. Patchouli, Oakmoss, and Galbanum Oil anchor the frame like sculpted green marble — dense, sharp, and aristocratic.

There is no sweetness. No safety.
Only Exaltolide, Ambrette, and a hint of Ambre Gris giving texture to the tension.
